In 2013 the Eglwyswrw Heritage Society initiated a project to erect a war memorial in the village. Several sites were investigated. The Church of St Cristiolus offered a location on a grassed area of the church yard beneath the historic rose window . The site was readily accepted by the Historical Society and Church in Wales as a most appropriate location for the war memorial that will be erected during the spring of 2014 for the Centenary Anniversary of the First World War.
Existing memorial in the Church to Private Joshua Clement James, Private Gwyn Williams and Private Walter Charles Little.
In February the stone was transported to the stone mason in St Davids where the names will be engraved onto black granite and mounted onto the slate.
