The Parish of Maindee

Welcome to the Parish of Maindee website. We are part of the Diocese of Monmouth in the Church in Wales. Our three churches form a Christian community whose aims are to worship God and serve the people of the parish.

St John the Evangelist

St Johns exterior viewSt Johns interiorThis is the parish church situated on the junction of St John’s Road and Kensington Place (see map).

This is a beautiful Victorian building which is used for regular worship including baptisms, weddings and funerals (see times of service). Facilities are also available to stream services. The building includes a hall and kitchen which are used for church organisations and for work within the community, including being one of the churches involved in the Newport Night Shelter providing food and shelter for the homeless.

St Mary

St Mary's interiorSt Marys exteriorThis is a modern 70’s style building which replaced a “tin” church which had served the local community throughout most of the 20th century. It holds regular Sunday worship and is situated on the junction of Wharf Road and Corporation Road (see map)

St Matthew
