The Travelling Posada

The Travelling Posada

This crib set is called a Posada because it is an old Mexican tradition which emphasized the earthly birth and family life of Jesus.

The children of Year 2 Waunfawr School will be invited to take Mary, Joseph, the Donkey and a flock of sheep into their homes for one night.

When the children bring the box home they will unpack it and set up the Travelling Posada figures.

There will be a Posada Prayer to say (if you wish). There is also a picture story book telling the Christmas Story. Plus a record book for you child to draw and write about when they had the Posada stay in their home.

In the morning your family keep a little sheep from the flock in your home until the Posada Service in St. Catherine’s Church at 6pm on Christmas Eve. All the rest of the box is then taken into school for the next child to take home that evening

Everyone who has hosted the Posada during December then comes to the service at St. Catherine’s Church at 6pm on Christmas Eve and places the sheep that they have been looking after during the past few weeks in into Baby Jesus’ Crib.
