Flower Festival 2017

Once again, our Flower Festival has been a great success! This year’s theme ‘My Favourite Things’ was fun to interpret and the arrangements varied from ‘A Garden Party at Buckingham Palace’ to ‘A Chinese Takeaway’ and from ‘Wimbledon’ to ‘Chocolate!’ We have had so many positive comments from visitors. Here are just a few describing the 31 arrangements, from our Visitors’ Book:

Thanks are due to so many people, but we would like to thank in particular:

  • each and every one of our flower arrangers: St. Peter’s Flower Guild members, Rhian, Chris B, Malcolm, Chris D, Gary, Joy, Janice, Shirley and Sue J; Ann from St. Michael’s Church, Trebanos; Wendy and Sue from Friends of Alltwen Macmillan and Marcia from Dementia Friendly Pontardawe.

  • Rhian Jones, who as Chair of the Flower Festival Committee, led our small team – even though her wrist was in a cast!

  • the volunteers who cleaned the church, manned the door, welcomed guests, baked cakes (and cream horns – thank you Avril!), made jams and marmalades and served refreshments.

  • Our Town Mayor, Cllr. Andrew Nicholson, who officially opened the Flower Festival, pictured below with churchwardens Sue and Rhian and our Vicar, Gary

  • The Nemeth family for their wonderful music
