Pontypridd Street Pastors

Street Pastors is an inter-denominational Church response to urban problems, engaging with people on the streets to listen, to care and to help.  We aim to make a positive difference in the lives of young people in our town as we roll up our sleeves and make a practical response to issues of crime and safety.

It was pioneered in London in January 2003 by Rev Les Isaac, Director of the Ascension Trust, and has seen some remarkable results, including drops in crime in areas where teams have been working. There are now some 9000 trained volunteers nearly 250 teams around the United Kingdom.

Pontypridd Street Pastors, like each city or town’s project is set up by Ascension Trust and run by our local coordinator.  The local police in Pontypridd asked for churches in the town to consider setting up their own group with support from Ascension Trust  and in partnership with Police, Council and other statutory agencies.

If you like to find out more, like to consider becoming a street pastor, like to join a prayer group to support the ministry then please contact the Pontypridd Street Pastors on pontypridd@streetpastors.org.uk.
