St Tyfodwg’s Church, Glynogwr

This ancient church is sited on an ancient pilgrimage route from East Wales to the Cathedral of St. David’s, Pembrokeshire and it is said by some to have been founded by the Celtic Saint Tyfodwg ap Gwilfyw, in the 6th century.

The church is listed as a basic medieval church, but included at Grade II* on account of the outstanding monument in the chancel (The Pilgrim stone), which is of national importance in Britain to the iconography and understanding of medieval art and universal practice of pilgrimage
