The Choir

The choir in sings in the weekly Eucharist as well as Choral Evensong  a few times per term. and special services such as Evening Remembrance and the Advent Carol service. The choir also sing for weddings, christenings and funerals when the occasion arises.

Operating during the University term time, the choir usually puts on a concert towards the end of each term, recordings of which can be found on soundcloud [link to be supplied].

The choir sings the best of choral music ranging from Taverner to Tavener and is committed to worship in the Liberal Catholic tradition. Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings at 1930 (following the Mid-week Eucharist) until 2100. In true choral singer tradition this is usually followed by a sociable drink together in the Crwys, our nearby local. We also rehearse before the Sunday morning Eucharist, starting at 1030.

Dress for services is formal; men wear black trousers, white shirts and dark ties, all singers wear academic gowns (provided by the Church) and graduates are invited to wear hoods when appropriate.

The Musical Director is Alex Thacker, a graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. He was himself a Bass in the choir as a student. The organist is Dr David Humphreys, a former staff member in the Music Cardiff University
