St Luke, Cilfynydd

A smaller congregation of older people in the Cilfynydd and Trallwn area of Pontypridd who enjoy traditional church services but with a focus on gentle community involvement and nurturing people’s faith, Gathering and Growing.  Many members are part of the Mothers’ Union (there are two branches) and parishioners are good at keeping up pastoral care and visiting local residential homes.

St Luke’s has strong links with the local primary schools and High School.  This year a kitchen and toilet are to be installed in the church part of the building (upstairs) which will enable regular children’s activities like film club or Messy Church.   Conscious of the lack of youth activities in the area, consideration is being given as to how to connect with this age group.  Downstairs is the Parish project called Restore, Rebuild, Renew, which helps people who are unemployed to work on furniture items and find new skills and provides the space to socialise.
