About the church

St Peter’s Church is a small rural church situated in a stunning location in the Usk valley about a mile outside Abergavenny.

Worship at St Peter’s is simple and traditional and we like to think that anyone joining us will feel welcome.

It is a great location for small weddings – up to  about 130 guests. Its excellent acoustic makes it a good venue for musical events and there is an annual choral concert in the Summer. It is also used as an occasional rehearsal venue.

At present there is no running water or sanitation at the church and we have to rely on the generosity of the neighbours.

The structure of the church is at present causing us some concern as the ringing chamber in the tower was declared unsafe in March 2014 and has been stabilised with internal scaffolding which enables us to keep the church open for worship .After much fundraising, and a substantial grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund,we have secured funds to carry out the urgent repairs to the roofs of the Nave and Chancel. This work is now complete and the interior which had suffered years of water damage has been made good. Thanks to the wonderful hot dry Summer the work is almost complete, and the roofs look superb thanks to the conservation builders, Taliesin Construction overseen by our conservation Architect, Stefan Horowskyj
