Together with St Michael & All Angels, Lower Machen, St John’s, Machen serves the communities of Upper & Lower Graig-y-Rhacca,  the village of Machen, and the beautiful rural villages of Lower Machen and Draethen. Both churches are listed by CADW due to their historic or architectural significance.

With our neighbouring churches in  Michaelston-y-Fedw, Rudry,  Bedwas and Trethomas,  we work to serve all those living in our villages as a Ministry Area within the Church in Wales.

We offer a variety of styles of worship but with a common view of our mission in our local communities.

St John the Baptist Church with its unusual spire is set back uphill from the main road behind the Cenotaph in Machen. One entrance is from the main road, the other is from Church Street. Access is by ramp or steps; a toilet is available.

A very warm welcome is offered to everyone, especially children
