January 2012 edition.

‘Full circle and we still don’t seem to learn!’

Jeremy Paxman, presenter of the BBC2 news said a while ago something along the lines of, ‘Want to receive more depression? Then join me tomorrow night for more news!’  Not the exact words used, but something along those lines.

I then thought to myself when does a circle end? When does it start and where does it stop? If there is a fixed point, some form of land mark we could use that as a guide, but on a clear no additional markings circle, where does it start and where does it stop?

Thinking outside of the box. When is a tree not a tree? I would suggest never, because the tree is sown by being dropped to the ground as a seed, or being made attractive to animals by drawing them to the tree to eat the fruit and then in turn the animal discards the seed supplying it with all the nutrients that it will need to germinate and become a small tree.
The tree branches and grows and reaching to the skies. It knows what to do, it draws the water, nutrients and warmth it needs to grow and flourish. It is a tree and it is happy being a tree. The Creator looks down and says, ‘Good tree, you have grown and are taking what is needed and nothing more, you are indeed a mark of My Creation.’

But what about us, the all thinking, all reasoning, all being of God’s Creation? I find that I have to agree with Jeremy Paxman, looking at the News, albeit BBC or Commercial Television, News is mostly depressing. Is this caused through the human race turning from God and His Son Jesus Christ?

Everywhere we look countries have spent more that they can afford and are now suffering the consequences. Countries that thought joining one currency would sustain them have found this not to be the case. This then cascades down into peoples lives, well it stands to reason doesn’t it, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander, so because I want the latest gadget why shouldn’t I use the credit card and hopefully be able to pay it off over the next few months?  But then in the current Paxman climate of depression, will I have the job to get the wages to pay the bill? One never knows today especially in these hard times around the world.
Governments around the world facing confrontations with the people. Admittedly some of the confrontations have been caused because those living in the country had no choice in their Governments in the past.
We then see images from around the world showing us the countless numbers facing famine and draught. Those desperate faces looking at the camera, knowing that they will never see the image because they do not have the luxury of owning a television, all they want is to know that they will be able to be granted a square meal each day, with water to drink to save from dehydration.

How often have reports like above been given in our past history, so where does the circle begin and where does it end.

Jude 17-25 NIV.

 A Call to Persevere

17 But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. 18 They said to you, “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.” 19 These are the people who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.
20 But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.
22 Be merciful to those who doubt; 23 save others by snatching them from the fire; to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.[a]
24 To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy— 25 to the only God our Saviour be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.

Take heart. Although the passage of Jude tells us that even in those days there were scoffers and people following their own instincts, God has also provided you and me, Holy in faith and praying in the Holy Spirit. We are here to snatch others from the fire and to be the fixed point within the circle to show them there is an end, if they wish to follow it, the end being committing life to the Lord God through His Son Jesus Christ.

Happy New Year.

Yours in Christ.
