The Ministry Area of East Newport in The Diocese Of Monmouth
Bordered by the M4, the George Street Bridge, the SDR and Caerleon, the East Newport Ministry Area encompasses the Parishes of Alway, Christchurch, Liswerry, Maindee and St Julians.
Ours is a socio-economically mixed and multi-ethnic pastoral area of housing, commercial, educational, recreational and industrial facilities.
We offer seven dedicated places of worship, namely the Churches of S Teilo (Always), the Holy Trinity (Christchurch), S Andrew and S Philip (Liswerry), S John the Evangelist and S Mary (Maindee) and SS Julius and Aaron (St Julians). In these buildings, with the local communities, we worship God and celebrate the Sacraments, proclaim the Gospel and mark major life events with prayer (Thanksgivings for Birth, Baptisms Weddings, Funerals, local festivals and other occasions).
We reach out to and engage with those beyond the walls of our Churches in many ways, eg, through community use of our Church Halls and other Parish facilities, by involvement with Night Shelter, Newport Street Pastors, in residential and care homes, in the schools and colleges of our area, through Prayer Walks and Street Ministry, through our Parish Magazines, Newsletters and the Social Media, by our engagement with the Mission of the Church throughout the world.
Thank you for visiting our website and please, if you are a person of faith, pray for us – we’ll be praying for you, too – and come back often!
