…(1 Corinthians 1.18)…in the proposed Ministry Area comprising Sketty, Killay and Tycoch parishes.
On April Fool’s Day for the very first time three PCC’s from a proposed Ministry Area gathered as one. It wasn’t to be fooled or taken in, we met to determine the best way forward in the working together we are already doing with Open the Book, pulpit exchanges and such like. Can we continue to be ‘fools for the sake of Christ’, bringing the good news to others?
Bishop John and Archdeacon Robert came to the meeting and encouraged us to recognize the gifts of all God’s people, giving permission to take risks in order to tell the Gospel to the communities in which we live.
What’s in a name? The Ministry Area hasn’t got a name yet so that was one topic to be discussed. In an informal setting, with cheese ‘n’ wine to share, small groups (chosen by buttons) also chatted about what was good in churches, what was not so good and what might develop in the ministry area.
Feedback, ideas and challenges were added to a mind-map for future prayer, thought and discussion. What next? A service together on a fifth Sunday. Updating congregations on the latest developments. Getting a group together drawn from each of the three parishes to continue Ministry Area development.
“It was an interesting meeting last night and wasn’t bad for a first get-together…” said one PCC member.
