HOme STUDY group

We have two Study Groups in the Ministry Area, open to anyone who would like to attend.  One meets in different member’s homes during the spring, summer and autumn / winter ‘terms’ from 7.00 to 9.00pm. The other meets on Wednesdays at 1.00pm in the spring (Lent) term.  We read and discuss study group material with the aim of sharing and building our Christian faith, in particular what this means in practice in our daily lives.

For our Spring ‘term’ up to Holy Week before Easter, we will be studying our Sunday readings from St Matthew’s and St John’s Gospel. We will also be using Tom Wright’s “St Matthew / St John for everyone”, which  explains the Gospel in a very accessible way that helps us to see how the words are relevant today.

This is very much for everyone.  You certainly don’t need to have studied the Bible already.  It is always good to have different points of view and share our own stories over tea or coffee.  And as there is a different reading to look at each time, it doesn’t matter if you can’t come to every meeting.

We have two groups.

The Thursday group‘s meetings, at 7-00pm, are:

  • 4 February at Kelvin Richards’, The Rectory, Talybont
  • 20 February at Liz & Mervyn Bramley’s, Weatheroak, Llanhamlach
  • 5 March  –   NO MEETING
  • 12 March at Richard and Heike Podger’s, Dros y Sir, Cefn Cantref
  • 19 March at Llangasty Retreat House, with Janet Haynes
  • 2 April at Phil & Kath Keene’s, Llanfellte, Bwlch

The Wednesday afternoon group will meet at Liz Bramley’s, Weatheroak, Llanhamlach.  These start on 19 February at 1.00pm.  Further meetings will be fortnightly on 4 March, 18 March and 1 April.

You can also phone Kelvin or Liz (see Contact page) to find out more about the Study Group.

If you haven’t been to a church study group before, do give this a try!

These charity coffee mornings are on the second Monday of the month at Llangors Village Hall from 10am -12 noon, and the causes are usually those used or supported by local people, or part of our local life:-
