St David’s

St David’s Church  Abercraf is now closed, due to structural problems with the building. Worship takes place in the other two Churches in the Parish, namely, Capel Coelbren and Callwen.

Many of you will have seen the For Sale signs on St David’s Church in Abercraf. I would like to take this opportunity to reassure those of you who are concerned about what this means, especially for the churchyard and the graves of your families and friends.
It is only the church building that is for sale, plus an area of currently uncultivated land beyond the church, in the corner by the former vicarage, and a small area inside the daffodil gate to allow for the parking of two vehicles. There are also a number of covenants – or restrictions – that govern what the new owners can and cannot do and, being within the Brecon Beacons National Park, there will be further planning restrictions.
We are not, indeed cannot, sell the churchyard. Full unimpeded access to the churchyard and the graves at all reasonable time is an absolute right and further burials and interments will take place as and when required.
For full details of what is for sale and the covenants, please go to https://www.rjcharteredsurveyors.co.uk/…/former-st…
I hope I have reassured you but, should you need further information or clarification, please contact me on 01639 843200. Thank you.
