We wanted to invite the Senior’s Group for a buffet lunch to express how we appreciate them as a group who moved up from St Jude’s when it closed to meet each Thursday afternoon in St Nicholas Church Hall. Richard and Sharon, David and Jan, Suzanne and Phil worked together to produce a wonderful feast. It made a change to see the Senior’s committee sitting down and being looked after. The hall looked lovely with pale blue tablecloths and the best china was brought out for the occasion.
After the lunch there was the weekly raffle called by Phil (another one), a quiz about the royal family which Richard had prepared and then entertainment from Chris Pike. It was a lovely afternoon
and much appreciated. No hidden agenda, although there was some suspicion about this free lunch and speculation as to what we really wanted…!
God’s grace – God’s unearned love towards us – is that there is nothing we can do to make God love us more, there is nothing we can do to make God love us less. Isn’t it a good message? It is an invitation of welcome and hospitality – as our lunch tried to echo.
